MIAOU MIAOU,THE PASTIES,ALL IN A WEEKEND
Miaou Miaou is Sean MacPherson and Raphael Perdriau.Neither of them actually own cats, but they have thought about it.One part rugged, uncouth, Kootenay woodsman and one part sleek, stylish European, they have a unique international chemistry that sets them apart from other two-piece bands. With a stripped-down drum kit,a one-setting amp and no pedals, they take a minimalist approach to their richly melodic brand of garage rock.Combine that with a light hearted, yet soulful style of songwriting, and a contagiously youthful stage presence,Miaou Miaou never fail to charm the pants off any crowd they have the pleasure of playing for.
Even though the band has only started playing shows, after appearing at the Olio Festival 2009 they have gone on to share the stage with Small Fame(Bend Sinister), Adelaide,Katastroyka,Manvils and Toronto's Birds of Wales.
Before discovering their love of the cat, Sean fronted indie pop group Costa Verde (members of the Clips, Albertans) and played shows with Bend Sinister, the High Dials, the Clips, the Weather, recorded a full length LP and toured Western Canada.Raphael moved to Vancouver from Lyons,France and played in Oceanic and the local jazz scene, with several appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. He also currently plays in local groove rockers, the Film Industry.
Some might think these different styles and backgrounds wouldn't mesh, but Sean and Raph have found a perfect marriage of musical styles, a love of rhythm, melody and the freedom a two-piece provides them. And they are just getting started…
2010 is an ambitious year for Miaou Miaou, having just released a music video for their single "Summertime III" with Matt Reed (Deps Neumonic), currently putting the finishing touches on a full length and preparing for their upcoming Canada tour, beginning in August.

BLACK PHOENIX ORCHESTRA,WAX MANNNEQUIN
Wax Mannequin was born in the smoke and industry of Hamilton;a damaged, underdog town;a perfect breeding ground for strange, variant things.
Incorporating folk, scrappy prog-metal and a tireless creative ethic,Wax infused his local influences with road-broken experience to forge something unsettlingly new. Solo (accompanied by heavy devices and an angry,
nylon-string guitar)or band-backed(with Mark Raymond on bass and Aidan Campbell on percussion), Wax Mannequin has toured incessantly within Canada over the past six years, with more recent forays into Europe and Australia.
Wax Mannequin now finds himself a forerunner in a strange new movement:roaming recluses and attention-seekers--solo-performers, equipped with laptops, damaged instruments and decaying minivans, making new sounds,
informed by hard travel and rough living. Wax's thought-provoking live performances and acclaimed recordings have garnered the fervent support of the creative underclass in his home country as well as a burgeoning
international reputation. Now fully rested from his third foray overseas,a wiser, drunker Wax Mannequin readies himself again for the glories and pitfalls of the trans-Canada, and the trans-atlantic. Wax's new release 'Saxon',out now on The Zunior Label, marks a gritty return to the psych-folk roots of this rambling iconoclast.
BLACK PHOENIX ORCHESTRA ON TOUR BRINGING AN ARSENAL OF PSYCHEDELIC ROCK
With a Scottish lead singer, psychedelic guitar riffs this band separates themselves from the rest. BPO came out of other great
Canadian bands, The Lions and Frankie McQueen, who played with acts such as, Our Lady Peace, JET, Mobile and the Arkells.
Black Phoenix Orchestra is a sound influenced by acts such as BRMC, OASIS, THE
VERVE, KASABIAN. Calgary's uptown magazine
called them the exciting new band to watch. BPO is touring western Canada in support of
there new self titled EPThis is a must see show for any Brit rock/psychedelic music fan.

MONKEY TYPE,KIRBY,TREVOR HOWARD
*Kirby*
Playing and writing music since age 16, KIRBY fronted Burlington, Ontario
prog-rock band ‘First Time Fallen’ for several years and released his first
solo EP “Within These Walls” in 2007 before taking the figurative plunge
with his next EP “The Good Fight”, in 2008. His sound displays his true
passion, as he belts out emotional lyrics right from the bottom of his
heart, coupled with the diversity of both a driving rock strum style and
quiet thoughtful picking on the guitar, reminiscent of Nick Drake, John
Mayer or Dallas Green. Though mostly acoustic in nature, KIRBY displays an
obvious penchant for writing epic rock songs, soon to be realized through
the full sound of his band Leominster.

MURDER OF CROWS,COMMISIONER,FINISHYMN
Three hard hitting homegrown acts will be taking over Voodoo's stage on the last
Saturday of Peachfest.
Emerging from the Southern Okanagan earlier this year,Murder of Crows has come on to
the local music scene with their righteously awesome blend of hard rock.
With hard driving punk rock rhythms that morph into surging melodies, break into full on granite head banging tunes, this band has some serious talent to show you.

JOHNNY 99
Like a dishevelled railroad orphan with a six-shooter and a matching set from Tiffany's, Johnnie Ninety-Nine and her bindle of fables raft their way down both the frigid North Saskatchewan and the mighty Mississippi on a rough-hewn wooden door stolen straight off the hinges of the village church. In some circles, “johnny/ie" is a term of endearment. Johnny 99 is a rock solid Bruce Springsteen song. Probably thanks to some poor soul inspired by the first verse, a johnny ninety-nine is also a ruthlessly efficient beverage essentially using wine as a bed for a shot of gin. The Johnnie Ninety-Nine Band take a similar approach to their instruments, believing that high-proof music should be combined, not diluted.
Jobi "Johnnie" Mihajlovich, now based in Vancouver BC, has been playing music since she was big enough to crawl onto the piano bench in her parents' Albertan mobile home. By age 6, she was competing with music students more than twice her age at the provincial level in composition. Since then, she has eagerly attempted every aspect of the Muse she had an opportunity to explore, and has finally come full circle to an individual style heavily influenced by the Howlin' Wolf, Hank Williams, and Hendrix she was raised on. Drawing from her deep well of heritage - farmers to outlaws, Roseburg to Bajina Basta - every song is a loving gesture of respect to all the things that came before it.
Recently compared to both Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle, Johnnie has performed and recorded with members of notable Vancouver rock groups Yukon Blonde and British Columbians [forthcoming EP “Whiskey Pushin’” recorded at The Hive Creative Labs], as well as reggae act Giraffe Aftermath and hot country up-and-comer Billie-Jo Bryce. She currently divides her time between her own pursuits and emerging cosmic folk-rock group, Buffaloswans.
In addition to the Good Enough For Canada! EP recorded off the cuff in a mere few hours with The Buskin’ & Robbin’ Band in Nashville this February, Johnnie Ninety-Nine has also just released full-length solo album No Home Like Nowhere, with band The Hornets, in June 2010. The Hornets converged like a crisis response team of borrowed hotshots in 2008, when Johnnie emerged, from a few months under a northern Alberta snowbank, with a record written and no one to play it with. Gathering for the first and only time in Vancouver during an intense 4-day live off the floor session, this diverse group stretched their strings from as far as Newfoundland and Oklahoma and breathed some warmth into the lonely frostbitten songs. After a long wait and a little spit-polish, the result is a beautiful series of vignettes containing the rough and raw images that have become Johnnie’s signature.
On tour with Johnnie this year are Manitoba bluesman Jake Stead [The Dusty Roads Band, Juno-nominated Burnt Project 1] and Ontario native, and classically-trained-turned-fiddle player, Arielle Campion. Three provinces. Three perspectives. One helluva band.
United by good tunes and good times, this hell-raisin' holy-rollin' posse have concocted their own special tonic of outlaw bluesgrass. With a diverse repertoire of distinctive originals and innovative covers, classic and modern, gospel to rock 'n' roll, Raffi to R&B, the Johnnie Ninety-Nine Band have the cure for whatever ails you. VITAMINS FOR YOU $7
In three years since I’m Sorry For Ever and For Always, vitaminsforyou’s
Bryce Kushnier has been doing something right. . The Legend of Bird’s Hill is nothing short of a quiet miracle [and] might just bridge the gap between Telefon Tel Aviv and Broken Social Scene on your iPod.
-XLR8R (US)
Watch for VitaminsForYou to take over the world in the near future. -Mote Magazine (Canada)
[The Legend of Bird’s Hill]’s flight is convincing, not to mention a great deal of fun.
-Grooves (US)
melodious laptop wiz
-SPIN Magazine (US)
programming genius
-Exclaim (Canada)
I’m sorry forever and for always is the soundtrack for any slow news day, the electronic equivalent of an afterglow.
- Magnet Magazine (US)
Vitaminsforyou’s digital reworking of Greg MacPherson’s “Churchill” … is one of the best tunes of last year.
- The Georgia Straight (Vancouver)
an enchanting mix of emotive keyboards, glitchy everything-but-the-kitchen sink percussion and ambient atmospherics … Techno, anyone?
- Vue Weekly (Edmonton)
[vitaminsforyou]’s muddled, faintly transmitted Ambient melodies and processed vocals loosely fall together after a fashion that suggests either imminent collapse, or a haphazard adhesion. That neither occurs conclusively is a testament to [his] juggling of the various parts which make up this off-kilter sometimes surprisingly benign music.
- The Wire
through his honest delivery and delicate ear for pop arrangements, vitaminsforyou manages to wrangle a sound all his own.
- The Mirror (Montreal)
It is so soft and warm and emotional, yet also progressive and innovative, full of beautiful melodies and impeccable sounds and structures. Like waves of a warm sea washing over you, with gentle beats and creative sounds and samples. Vitamins For You might has managed to produce the first electronic “emo-“album ever.
–Cracked
I'm Sorry Forever and Always is something of a mixed bag - but one you want to continue routing through for surprises. This is like the
schizophrenic young cousin of an unknown folk artist who discovered a vocoder in a grassy knoll while writing in his diary.
–Igloo Mag
Vitaminsforyou . . . jumps oh-so-drunkenly between the foreground and the background of your thoughts, cutting away from musical preludes and quiet, andante movements into insistent beats and single vocal phrases that repeat themselves until they form a golden, latter-day hymn.
–Stylus Magazine
While many electronica artists focus on structures and sound combinations, VFY is radically different. Their sense of melody is pushed to the bones and the structure of the songs are blasted in melodies which makes you totally disoriented during the two first listens of this incredible album.
- Le Bonheur, Album of the month
I’m sorry for ever and for always is a sublimely human album, perfectly and lovingly so, which is what makes it so precious and special

BEHIND SAPPHIRE,LONE RANGER
Matthew Mazankowski and Grant Cassell are at the centre of Behind Sapphire, but talented
dozens orbit the duo on their self-titled debut. The result is a swirling patchwork of affection, charm and uplift – a fever dream without the symptoms.
The album is carried by rollicking backbeats
sweeping orchestration and outsized
arrangements that borrow the nostalgia of Walt Disney, nod to The Beatles’ flights of fancy and carry the croon of Billie Holiday and Jason Mraz. Behind Sapphire began as a bedroom project but became a band of scope with local producer Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas, Said The Whale, Hey Ocean) outfitting
their baroque pop and acoustic lilt with depth and his own sonic stamp. Their sound is graced by friends and family, marked by unbridled optimism and attended by virtuosity in every musical cleft and corner of the record.
On stage, they flurry through pared-down folk, string-flourished anthems and vocal cadenzas in the kinetic spirit of their contemporaries: We Are The City, Library Voices, Fields of Green et al.Behind Sapphire can be brazen or easygoing, but their stage troupe has moved well beyond the
bedroom, into the peer-to-peer grapevine of Vancouver talent that has proven to be worth every whisper of excitement it has received. Their sophomore album is one of summer-chirping,heady sing-along and meandering spirit that is the sound of long days and short nights – the season itself.
In their young, heartfelt and humorous flair, Behind Sapphire is certain to find a home in your heart

THE BIRTHDAY CAKES,BAD FATE,CHASING RED LIGHTS,THE PASTIES $10
"The nucleus of our dear city draws us ever towards itself. And while the world throws a party to which we are denied entry, we make our own in the underbrush and back alleys, where an alien turf sends shivers up
well-to-do spines. Some connections will never be forged, and some will never be broken. These are times of undying honesty, however
beautiful or ugly it may be.
Bad Fate was spawned from many years of love and friendship, and
continues to be an appendage of a beautiful group of friends. They are some of the sweetest people I have ever known and I am tearfully happy for them as I know that they create the most honest music of their lives."

DAVE PHILLIPS BAND
In the last three years, travel and music have been Dave Phillips'
education and livelihood. He began writing in earnest in 2006 when Ontario alt. country cowboys Brian Dunn and OX recruited him to play guitar at Vancouver's Profile Studio. He also began playing regularly in
Vancouver's club scene with his band The R.A.F. making frequent
appearances at The Media Club,Biltmore Cabaret and his favourite
stomping ground, the historic Railway Club.
The aspiring songwriter truly came into his own however when he set
out by himself for his first of three solo tours of the UK and Ireland. For six weeks he found gigs wherever he could, in taverns and speakeasies from London to Edinburgh, Belfast down to Cork. A mutual rapport
between artist and audience quickly developed, giving Phillips a solid foundation to which he can return.
Phillips was eager to record something great upon his return home to
Vancouver, and began recording demos of all the material that had been honed night after night on tour, as well as songs that were written on rolling tape. His recording facility was a makeshift studio fitted with whatever discarded, borrowed and rented gear he could acquire. Whatever these recordings garnered they ultimately became the catalyst for
Phillips' unlikely partnership with veteran music producer Ben Mink. Together they've crafted a collection of songs that stand out for their breadth of musicality and eloquence.
The strength of this work only further compels him to set out again
and;having recently headlined The Roxy, supported the Paper Lions in the Railway Club, and established his own residency in The Little Mountain Gallery, he is setting out on the road again. This time however he’s staying in Canada and has his full band behind hIM.

THE MAGICIAN,ARI NEUFELD
AUGUST 15 SUNDAY
THE MAGICIAN
Nathan Moes is the Magician. Making pop music, with a foot in the past, and an eye for the future, and a body resting in the present, usually upon a piano bench. Having released his debut EP in the Fall of 2008, Nathan has played consistently, claiming 3rd place in CITR 101.9's Annual "Shindig" Battle of The Bands, and vetted as a local band to watch for by the Vancouver city beat blog beyondrobson.com.
The Gates of Love, one of the most technically proficient, perceptively feeling and generally agreeable bands in the greater Langley area have joined forces with The Magician, creating the live spectacle of The Magician & The Gates of Love. The Gates of Love are Conrad Dykman and Jordan Klassen maintaining the low end and percussion, the Brothers Koole, Andrew & Nick, singing harmonies in ways that only family can, and playing trumpet and saxophone like so many others can…But maybe better.
It’s pop music. Echoes of The BeeGees, The Mamas & The Papas, The Beach Boys come alongside the reverberations of modern middle-class existence in the suburbs, mid 20’s aimlessness, Top 40 pop music and too much time spent melancholic in the middle of the night in front of a keyboard.
In support of the release of “The Singles Series”, The Magician & The Gates of Love, are heading out from the Fraser Valley of BC in August 2010 to their share harmony laden sweetness to their western neighbors.

It all started when a friend asked Kris and Corinne if they would Play a
New Years Gig, four days before New Years Eve. In a frenzy-- Kris and Corinne whipped together their strangest mix of original material---and it was a hit! Needless to say they where invited back for the next New Years Party. After a few more gigs, and Kris churning out a huge batch of sweet songs, they decided to invite more musicians into the swamp stompin' Blackberry Woods. Muahahahaha....
First to come stumbling down the hill and waltzing in, came a slightly
intoxicated and very crazy drummer---Amrit. Not far behind Amrit was the Dreamy---Katheryn squeezing magic from the accordion. Then, straight out of the Blue Sky, fell---DeLisa, and Jack blasting away on their shiny brass Trumpets. Next, floating down the river that runs through the Blackberry Woods, on his Acoustic bass, came---Michael!
And oh! There's also---Jenn adding her percusive golden touches that shake up the woods! Now, with---Corinne playing Saxophone, and singing like a nightingale, and with---Kris on Guitar, singing with his raspy half Country half Rap/Hip-Hop heart out, this little Orchestra conjures up some of the most wondrous music for the whole world.

CAROLINE SPENCE
Folk-rock goth diva,Caroline Spence changes it up with emergence into a new musical genre with a new band, new sound and exciting live show.
Victoria, BC based artist,Caroline Spence,is no stranger to the ups and downs of the music business. Two years ago,Caroline was doing pretty well for a up and coming folk-rock artist. She spent a successful year opening for Melissa Ferrick at the Telus Theatre in Whistler, being a regional
finalist and named one of Canada's top 12 indie acts to watch as part of the Mazda Music Tour, and being offered a showcase at NewMusicWest. Her live show had won the Live Performance of the Year Award at the Island Music Awards prior to that, and she already had 3 successful cross Canada tours under her belt. But something just wasn't ringing true musically for the performer and she knew she wanted to bring her artistry alive in a way that just wasn't being met as an acoustic act. "I had always written very
experimental and somewhat heavier music, but had never had the opportunity to bring this other side of my songwriting self to life," says Caroline.
Caroline was working with two other solo artists at the time,Pauline Edwards and Adam Basterfield. "Both of my bandmates were awesome to work with, but they both had their own music calling to them as well. When Polly left the band to pursue her own music and finish writing her cd,Adam and I were left to our own devices and we just started jamming these great tunes together."
Adam had also been evolving as a songwriter and was wanting to work on his own songs in a more collaborative environment than he had in the past. It wasn't long before these two decided to join forces and write songs together.Life partners as well as musical partners, Caroline relates how it was a revelation to be living with someone with perfect pitch. "I'm more of an emotional songwriter. I'll come up with all sorts of creative,
interesting sounds by changing guitar tunings and using multiple capos,as well as slapping the guitar and generally using the guitar as a multi-instrumental tool. The down side of that was that I often didn't know what chords I was playing and wasn't able to recreate the sounds I was coming up with. Adam with his perfect pitch and incredible theoretical knowledge helped me bring the songs to life." Another interesting twist,Adam also plays keyboards in the 'Richard Wright' role in Canada's Most
Authentic Pink Floyd tribute, 'Pigs'.
Both Adam and Caroline were inspired by artists like Pink Floyd,Explosions in the Sky,My Morning Jacket,Bat for Lashes,Metric, Arcade Fire,Kate Bush,Black Mountain,
Supertramp, and The Band, amongst many others. "There is so much great music out there right now, it's like a resurgence of
classic progressive and art rock of the 70s and early 80s.It's great!"says Caroline,
"Our sound pulls from many prog and art rock influences, and the music is more of a direct line to what is resonating for us both as songwriters." Adam also inspired Caroline to pick up an electric guitar for
the first time. "I never realized how much easier it is to play an electric guitar and sound impressive," she laughs, "that doesn't mean play well, but with a pedal, even one note can sound very impressive." With a year of very hard work behind them on their songs and their stage show, one can expect
the same quality of live performance that always set the band apart.Taylor Charles, an exceptional drummer who has trained with some of the best drummers in the business, holds down the beat. "We were looking for a
drummer and put an ad out. We thought Taylor was answering the ad,when he'd actually just found us online and decided he wanted to play with us. We were blessed." They advertised for a bassist with personality and lucked out when they met Michael Ross, who creates sweet grooves on his left-handed bass. "We were lucky to find Michael who was just a perfect fit for our quirky band, he not only manages the bass, but sings sweet harmonies as well," Caroline says.
So what's the new band name? She won't tell until August, she says. The band wants to keep the name a surprise and do something special for their long-time fans this summer by having a special VIP show to introduce the name and new sound to them first. They've been promoting the new act for months and have been starting to generate a lot of interest in this mysterious new project. Their plan is to release the name at the beginning of August with a new look, sound and a bunch of show dates booked through BC and Alberta through the summer and fall.
Caroline Spence has been part of the Canadian independent music scene for the past number of years, playing numerous festivals and shows alongside other great artists like Ember Swift, Melissa McLelland, The Gruff, Chris Belsito, Tom Hooper and Melissa Ferrick, amongst others. Caroline's first EP'hello' was produced by Michael Jack (Bono, Rush, Jann Arden, The Trews,Big Sugar and more). Michael has been a long-time supporter and will also be producing the band's upcoming cd project. 'Hey Gemini', the single from the'hello' EP, won the Great Canadian Talent Search sponsored by Canadian Musician Magazine.
Caroline's music has received regular play on college and CBC radio. Caroline has been interviewed on Rogers Cable, Global, CTV and various college radio stations about her band, and various music projects that she
has been involved with. Caroline was also a winner of the IMA Live Performance of the Year Award, as well as being a regional finalist in the 'Mazda Music Tour' where her band was touted as one of Canada's 'top 12
indie bands to watch'.

"You can tell from the very beginning that The Senticsphere wanted to pack an emotional punch on 'Day One'.With unique instrumentals and meaningful lyrics, The Senticsphere is trying to cement their place in the world of
rock.
Their ability to mix the hard with the soft, and the melodic with the extreme, give this band an edge in their quest for the spotlight, plus being compared to one of the best rock acts out there right now is always a good thing. Breaking Benjamin have become masters at mixing melody and emotion with angst and energy. The Senticsphere achieve this exact same technique."

THE AUTUMN PORTRAIT,WINDBORN,TUSK MOUNTAIN
What do you get when you take 2parts passion
1 part desire, and 3 parts incredible song writing?-The Autumn Portrait. Singer/songwriter and creative mind behind it is Freddie Mojallal. What once started as a solo project with singer/songwriter and creative mind Freddie Mojallal on vocals and guitar has expanded to a solid 3-piece band including Dyllon Mitchell on bass and Sean Lavoy on drums with an unforgettable live show that has left crowds speechless & highly impressed.
Freddie was born in Iran, and moved with his family to Vancouver at age 3,where he has since lived. Though always a strong passion of his, pursuing music has been a struggle for Freddie as it was against the norm in his family. After his first band in 1999 separated,Freddie took a long hiatus from music and went through several years of soul searching.Only after working in the corporate world for 2 years did Freddie realize that he had to follow his heart; it was time to start writing music again!
In late 2009, The Autumn Portrait released its first EP, “The Light,” performing around Vancouver as both a solo act and with a band while gaining an increasingly strong fan base. Highlights include CiTR, CJSF & CBC3 radio and being featured during the 2010 Olympics with Chapters Indigo.
Giving back and making music to bring people closer together is important to The Autumn Portrait. Showcased at WAR CHILD CANADA
“Busking for Change” in Dec ’09 to raise money for war affected children; and Jan ’10 & April ‘10 (hosted by 100.5FM The Peak) raised funds & performed at benefit concerts for Red Cross & Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
“I want to break down the wall between musicians and the fans. It is OUR music to enjoy together. If we share what’s in our hearts, the rest is easy” Freddie says about his music.
The Autumn Portrait is currently recording a full-length album and will be on a Western Canada tour this summer!
------------------------------
Formed in the cold winter of 2008,Tusk Mountain delivers a high-energy breed of dark folk music and electric driven rock 'n' roll. For years, cousins Travis Eek and Michael Szalay had ran parallel through music and eventually their tracks joined in a collaboration that would prove true to their Canadian country roots. With the addition of drummer Carson Ruhland, the trio set out to create an original sound of smooth acoustic guitars and bone chilling lyrics. With the howling roars from Travis' guitar amp, the crying sounds of Carson's harmonicas and the rough cries of Mike's singing, the band created an original blend of musicianship that was unheard of in their local music scene. Since forming, they have went on to write original material (to be recorded summer 2010) and have gained praise from audiences for their high-energy, sing-along sets at many local venues up and down the Okanagan Valley.
---------------------------------------------Although ‘simply massive’ aren’t two words that typically describe a two piece band, they seem to suit Windborn just fine. Windborn is made up of Jeff Pike (acoustic guitar, lead vocals) and Scott Melnyk (percussion, backing vocals). The two are into making huge songs and sounds out of minimal instruments and members – basically making it sound like there are three or four people in the band when there are really only two. Jeff is originally an Alberta boy. Not the horse riding, tobacco chewing type, but the musician type. He was formerly part of Agent-O (yes, that’s an ‘oh’ sound and not a ‘zero’ sound) which ended up fizzling out due to lack of massiveness. They only wanted to play big shows with good sound and that rarely ever happened. Beckoned by the great call of the west, Jeff lifted his roots to pursue the western Canadian music scene dream. We don’t really know where Scott came into the picture, but we do know that he appeared with a self-made, modified hand percussion kit (complete with djembe, congas, kick, splash cymbal, doogie tabla, and a rainstick). Together they perform an all original blend of acoustic alternative music that can range from ambient, to edgy, or to just a simple groove. All songs are riff based, not chord based, meaning you’re more likely to have a Windborn song stuck in your head than a Nickelback song (thank God). Their full catalogue of music has now reached 3 full hours but so far they have only allowed for a six-song EP titled Radiate to be released to the masses (available on iTunes, Napster, Amazon, and emusic). The band has played every type of venue from coffee shops to music festivals all over B.C. and Alberta. Windborn looks forward to maintaining their massiveness and are currently recording a full length album that they hope to release online in the fall.

This last year has been huge for Vancouver based band, The Autumn Portrait. What once started as a solo project with creative mind Freddie Mojallal on vocals and guitar has expanded to a solid 3-piece band including Dyllon Mitchell on bass and Sean Lavoy on drums with an unforgettable live show that has left crowds speechless & highly impressed.
This will be the first show in Penticton for The Autumn Portrait. They will be showcasing songs from their self-produced sophomore EP appropriately entitled, “Roads.” They will also be a sneak preview of their new songs that are currently being recorded for their debut full-length album with engineer Tom Dobrzanski (We are the City, Said The Whale, The Zolas), to be released in early 2011. “It’s a great opportunity to test the songs out that fans haven’t heard before. It’s really exciting.”
Highlights over the past year for singer/songwriter/guitarist Freddie Mojallal of The Autumn Portrait include being featured during the 2010 Olympics with Chapters Indigo and radio play CiTR, CJSF & CBC3. Giving back and making music to bring people closer together is important to The Autumn Portrait. Showcased at WAR CHILD CANADA, Freddie Mojallal performed in “Busking for Change” in Dec ’09 to raise money for war affected children among local celebrated musicians such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Said The Whale, We Are The City, Bend Sinister, Jessie Farrell, Elias, and the Zolas. In Jan ’10 & April ‘10 (hosted by 100.5FM The Peak) raised funds & performed at benefit concerts for Red Cross & Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
“I think it’s about time Penticton gets to see The Autumn Portrait live. There has been so much anticipation up to this point. We just want to get on the road and confirm that we are a great live band. The record is one thing, but an unforgettable live show can be life-changing. And that’s what we can deliver”

NADIA
Originally from Quesnel, BC, Nadia von Hahn has gone from high school eccentric, to musical theater maniac, and finally, a powerhouse songstress, all in a few short years. After packing her bags, and cutting off her teenaged-dreadlocks, this small town girl graduated as class Valedictorian from The Canadian College of Performing Arts, in Victoria. There she received a scholarship from the Canadian Heritage Arts Society, for her work in classical voice, acting, and musical theater. A diverse performer, Nadia has taken her layered artistic background and infused her own songwriting with drama, sincerity, and stubborn hope.
Described as “cinematic”, and “an ethereal powerhouse”, this young performer is poised at the beginning of an exciting career. From dramatic piano balladry to cheeky retro-pop, her distinct luxurious vocals and empathetic lyrics are a gracious hostess to a wide audience. Her relentlessly hummable melodies, and courageously sensitive sound have drawn comparisons to Sarah Slean, Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, and even Feist. Her unique fusion of pop, folk, and classical sensibilities have combined to create a style that is both entirely current and completely timeless, a sound that is entirely her own.
Nadia recently finished production on her debut EP "Wait And See What Happens", with producer Winston Hauschild (Hannah Georgas, Hey Ocean!), at FaderMaster Studios in Vancouver, to be released October 5, 2010.

DURBAN POISON,THE JOLTS
Durban Poison came together in the summer of 2009 through a series of cosmic reactions that connected this charismatic group of four.Playing shows every couple of weeks since they began has earned them a reputation
of being one of the most energetic snotty rock n roll bands in Victoria,BC.
Durban was banned from a club in town on their first headlining gig for Mattis attempt to bring a bottle of Jagermeister on stage, which remanents are probably still scattered around back. In January, 2010
Durban went into the Hive studios (Burnaby, BC) and recorded a record 25 songs live-off-the-floor in 2 days with legendary producer/engineer Jesse Gander ( D.O.A., the Subhumans, the Jolts, etc.). At the Stereophonic Tonic cd release party someone drugged Matti on Rhohypnol/GHB/?? and
fucked out of his mind - still managed to play 12 songs and remembered 1.
An hour long interview and live acoustic song was featured on whatsradio.com podcast a couple days after the cd release. Now, the boys prepare for their first tour across Canada, from Victoria to Quebec City
and back, 27 days, August 2010.
For fans of: the Ramones, New York Dolls, Joan Jett
THE JOLTS:
Haute Voltage (hot vohl-tij) : chaos, intoxication, celebration of nature,
instinctual, intuitive, pertaining to the sensation of pleasure or pain,
individuality dissolved and hence destroyed, wholeness of existence,
orgiastic passion, dissolution of all boundaries, excess, human being(s)
as the work and glorification of art, destruction.

DANIEL MOIR
At only 20-years old, Daniel Moir is a force to be reckoned with.In just a short time, the young singer/songwriter has already accomplished feats that outnumber his few years. Drawing inspiration from personal insight and life experience that varies
from a rocky childhood to vagabonding through Europe, Daniel has created a unique blend of folk music that shines wisdom far beyond his years.
Before pursuing a solo career, Daniel honed his performance skills singing, playing and recording with various local Bands. Daniel’s music was soon noticed by Vancouver Producer Tom Dobrzanski, who invited Daniel to his Vancouver studio to work on his debut solo EP, “the Country and the Sea”. The album was heavily licensed and charted on college radio across Canada, which created hype for this debut full-length album; "Road". "Road" was recorded in Calgary, AB with multi-Juno winning producer Russell Broom (Jann Arden, Emm Gryner, Sam Roberts), and was co-engineered by David Kean (Bjork, Audities Foundation, etc.)
It was not long before Daniel was picked up by u22 music producer, Rhea March, who provides credible performance opportunities for young artists. Daniel recently participated in a CBC concert series which will be aired to millions as a television special. After several Canadian tours and performances at various festivals, including playing for est. 15,000 at the Edmonton Folk Festival, it is safe to

As well as being a musician, Daniel is also an accomplished painter, he is dedicated in the practice of meditation and is a nature-enthusiast. He continues to write, record and tour relentlessly.

BOATS
Boats music has lyrics about dismemberment(the good kind),excellent posture, and orthodontic surgery. A junky indie-pop band with high-end hopes but low-end equipment(total net worth of keyboard section:$40,all thrift store finds),Mat Klachefsky’s bizarre vocal chords mixed with his “infectiously catchy” pop songs and boundless energy have been freaking out audiences ever since they released their critically acclaimed first album “Intercontinental Champion” to local audiences in October 2007. Since then they have embarked on four Canadian tours, played a packed houses at SXSW,NXNE,Pop Montreal,WCMA’s and Sled Island, and charted solidly all across Canada.
Boats just finished recording their 2nd full length album “Cannonballs, Cannonballs” which will be released in May.
This album will take you to the beautiful bizarre world where; kids protect their summercamp from a fake mustache tree,TV shows are broadcast on the sides of buildings and Olympic ski jumpers dot the horizon. Including a duet about a fictional performing team: Smokestack who has a hole in his body; and Lucy who thinks she will be the mother of a flock of birds (but won’t) (Smokestack & Lucy’s Magnificent Cabaret) They are excited to take the rest of the universe to their world of complete, beautiful nonsense again.
